IRMO “SPECIAL” ELECTION – Filing Begins for 1 Open Council Seat

 

PUBLIC NOTICE :  TOWN OF IRMO “SPECIAL” ELECTION

The Lexington County Election Commission announces the Town of Irmo Special Election for ONE Council member to be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2020.
Persons desiring to vote in the upcoming election must be registered by February 3, 2020. To register, one must contact the County Board of Voter Registration.
Citizens desiring to be a candidate for these offices may file at the Town of Irmo, 7300 Woodrow Street, Irmo, SC 29063. Books will be open for filing at 8:30 a.m. on Monday January 6, 2020, and remain open during regular business hours until 5:00 p.m. on Friday January 17, 2020.  Please see Special Election Filing Packet for additional information.

A Statement of Economic Interest form must also be completed on-line with the Ethics Commission and Campaign Disclosure submitted, both according the Ethics Commission directive.

This is a nonpartisan election and no party affiliation shall be placed on the ballot.

Polling precincts and locations are:

For Lexington Co., Irmo precinct (Irmo Elementary School, 7401 Gibbs St.); Murraywood precinct and Quail valley precinct (St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 6952 St. Andrews Rd);

For Richland Co., Balentine 1, Balentine 2 and Friarsgate 2( HE Corley Elementary, 1500 Chadford Rd.) Dutch Fork 2 and Old Friarsgate (Dutch Fork Elementary, 7900 Broad River Rd.), Friarsgate 1(Friarsgate Park, 1712 Chadford Rd.), Parkridge 1(Harbison Fire Station, 131 Lake Murray Blvd.), Parkridge 2(Grace United Methodist, 410 Harbison Blvd), Riverwalk (Episcopal Ch/St. Simon/St. Jude, 1110 Kinley Rd.)

The polls shall open at 7:00 a.m. on Election Day and close at 7:00 p.m.

At 9:00 a.m. on Election Day the County Election Commission will begin its examination of the absentee envelopes returns at 605 West Main St. Suite C. Lexington, SC, 29072

On Thursday, March 5,2020, at 9:00 a.m. the County Board of Canvassers will hold a hearing to determine the validity of all provisional ballots cast in these elections. This hearing will be held at 605 West Main St. Suite C. Lexington, SC 29072
