With a career spanning over two decades, Mr. Dennis has dedicated himself to public service, starting his journey with the Town of Irmo in 2001 as a Reserve Police Officer with the Irmo Police Department. His commitment and performance led to his full-time appointment as a Patrol Officer in 2002, marking the beginning of a diverse and impactful career within the police department.

Throughout his tenure, Mr. Dennis served in various crucial roles, showcasing his versatility and leadership capabilities. From K9 Officer and Field Training Officer to Evidence Custodian, Patrol Corporal, Patrol Sergeant, Investigations Sergeant, and ultimately Assistant Chief, he demonstrated a deep understanding of law enforcement and a commitment to the well-being of the Irmo community.

In 2020, Mr. Dennis reached a pinnacle in his career when he was appointed as the Town's 32nd Chief of Police. Leading a team of 33 officers and civilian employees, he focused on enhancing the department's professional image and improving services for the Irmo community. Mr. Dennis introduced the core values of Integrity, Professionalism, and Dependability, embodying a commitment to the community's quality of life.

A dedicated problem solver and advocate for progress, Mr. Dennis implemented strategies to boost recruitment, improve retention efforts, and uplift staff morale during challenging times. His leadership extended beyond local boundaries, as evidenced by his role as the past President of the South Carolina Crime Stoppers Association State Council and past Vice-Chair of the Midlands Crime Stoppers Association.

Mr. Dennis's professional development includes graduating from the FBI's Supervisor, Command, and Executive Leadership Institutes, receiving Executive Training through the LECC/SCLEOA, and attending the Narcotics Commanders School. His outstanding contributions have been recognized with prestigious awards, including the VFW Post 8738 Law Enforcement Winner, American Legion's Nathan M. Wolfe Award of Excellence, and the FBI LEEDA Trilogy Award. Notably, he was named the Irmo Police Department's Officer of the Year in both 2004 and 2008.

In 2021, the Irmo Town Council unanimously appointed Mr. Dennis as the Town Administrator, entrusting him with overseeing town staff and department heads while working directly for the Town Council. True to his roots, Mr. Dennis, a Irmo native, continues to reside in the town with his wife and son. Operating with an open-door policy, he welcomes the community to meet him and his dedicated team, emphasizing their shared commitment to providing a quality professional service to the Town of Irmo.
