Irmo's town government has a four-year term and consists of a Council of five members. It meets the first and third Tuesday of every month in the Municipal Building, 7300 Woodrow St., Irmo, SC 29063. The current council consists of; Mayor John Gibbons, Mayor (Pro Tem) Harvey Hoots, Councilwoman Kathy Condom, Councilman Barry A. Walker, Sr. and Councilman Hardy King.

The Town of Irmo continues to work with Carolina Water Service, Inc. to improve services for our citizens and eliminate complaints about the water treatment plant located off of Irmo Drive on Greenbrier Road.  Residents that have general complaints about odors generated by the water treatment plant should contact one of the following numbers:

                                      TRASH COLLECTION REGULATIONS


    
Southland Sanitation is our trash contractor.  They are responsible for providing  the blue roll carts (The Town provides the green recycle bins).  If you do not have either of these, or yours is broken call 781-7050 for a replacement.  Recyclables and Household trash will be collected on the same day.  Residents must place their containers next to the curb the night before pickup, and remove them from the curb before 7:30pm after pickup. Recyclables include:
                            
                             1.   Glass:  clear, green, brown (Not Broken)
                             2.   Plastic
                             3.   Aluminum and metal cans
                             4.   Newspaper and magazines
                             5.   Only corrugated cardboard boxes are accepted and must be broken down.  No pizza boxes, cereal
                             boxes or egg cartons will be accepted.  Also, unacceptable recycle items; Styrofoam, coat
                             hangers, plastic toys, clothing, medical waste, etc......                     

     Do not put yard trash or construction debris in the roll cart.  Paint cans will only be accepted with the lid off and the paint completely dry, if not; fill with sand or kitty litter and place next to curb.  Items accepted with Household Trash on your normal pickup day may include: small televisions, microwaves, computer monitors and small appliances.  If you have "Special Items" such as: washing machines, dryers, stoves, refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, etc..... you must call Southland at 256-7276 to arrange a special pickup (There is no charge). 

      Yard Trash instructions include:

                              1.   All loose debris must be bagged or containerized
                              2.   Loose limbs must be no wider than 4" and 4' in length
                              3.   Weekly pickups limited to three 55-gal containers or a pile no larger than 6' x 6'
                              4.   4' x 4' sections of carpet will be picked up if put with yard trash
                              5.   Any furniture: sofas, chairs, mattresses, box springs
                              6.   Grills (NO TANKS)
